OSU PET DAY

What: visit many booth including the SafeHaven booth! SafeHaven will also have adoptable dogs at the event.

Mothers Day Silent Auction for SafeHaven
When: May 9th- 11th
Where: Heritage Mall
What: The annual Heritage Mall Mother's Day Art Show & Benefit is seeking donations for the Silent Auction to raise funds for SafeHaven Humane Society.  The event, hosted by The Heritage Mall will be held May 9-11.

Anyone in the community with a piece of artwork that they would like to donate can e-mail Cameron Blagg III at cameroniii@aol.com to schedule a pick-up or they can drop off their art with Heritage Mall Customer Service, in care of Melody Clark, Marketing Director.  Last year's benefit was a huge success raising over $1200 for the local, non-profit, no-kill shelter.  For more information please call (503) 932-2324. 

A variety of art donated by local artists will be silent auctioned off throughout the weekend. Bidding will end at 2pm Sunday May 11th and artwork can be picked up at the mall between 3pm and 6pm.

National Pet Week
When: Tuesday, May 6 to Monday, May 12,
Pets have profound affects on the lives of their human owners. They provide us with love, endless hours of companionship, and wonderful relationships that help fill our our lives. National Pet Week is a celebration of those relationships. The Auxiliary to the AVMA is a non-profit organization of family, veterinarians, associates, and friends of the veterinary profession whose purpose is to promote the science and art of veterinary medicine through communication, education, and support of those associated with the profession. Be Kind to Animals Week
When: Wednesday, May 7 to Tuesday, May 13,
The American Humane Association created Be Kind to Animals Week in 1915 to celebrate the unique bond between humans and animals. Every year, animal shelters throughout the country hold special events during this special week to raise awareness about Being Kind to Animals, and to teach people about the amazing role animals play in our lives. Be Kind to Animals Week is a great time to promote our nation’s animal welfare organizations and to encourage everyone to get involved to make a difference for animals. Rogue Brewers Memorial Brew Fest
When: May 16th and 17th
Where: Newport, OR
What: This year’s event will include 50+ microbreweries, local cuisine, live music, and dog events! Sponsored by KG Specialties and Fred Meyer. Visit the event website.

Art 4 Paws Event
When: Saturday, May 17th 10am-6pm. Bidding closes at 5pm.
Where: Mona Lisa's Frame Shop, Albany Fred Meyer Plaza

National Dog Bite Prevention Week
When: May 18-24th
The third full week of May is National Dog Bite Prevention Week. Each year, about 5 million people in the U.S., most under the age of 13, are bitten by dogs. Dog bite injuries are a leading cause of emergency admission of children to hospitals. The good news is that most bites can be prevented. Adopt-a-Shelter-Cat Month
When: Sunday, June 1 to Monday, June 30,
Where: your local humane society
The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) is celebrating June as Adopt A Shelter Cat Month to educate people about the wonderful cats and kittens available for adoption at shelters. Adopt A Shelter Cat Month is also a time when the ASPCA encourages responsible pet ownership. In addition to providing adequate food, shelter and water, being a responsible pet owner also involves learning about cats and having realistic expectations for your new companion. Albany Hertz Autos 4 Animal
When: June 6-8th
Where: Hertz Albany
What: During the weekend Hertz will donate $100 for every car sold to SafeHaven! Come out and visit with adoptable pets as well. Donations can be borought to Hertz as well visit our wish list for ideas. Don't miss this great event. Hertz website.



SafeHaven's Paws in the Park Event
When: Saturday, June 21st
Where: Timber Linn Park, Albany
What: Join us for SafeHaven's 4th Annual Paws in the Park fundraiser. Get pledges for the walk earn prizes and support SafeHaven. Enjoy food, fun, and entertainment. Fun pet games, activities, and prizes will also be part of the day. Visit with adoptable dogs from SafeHaven and learn more about our services to the community. Annual Take Your Dog to Work Day
When: Sunday, June 22,
Pet Sitters International presents their annual "Take Your Dog To Work Day". Dog lovers can participate in this event, designed to encourage pet adoptions. This day was created in hopes that dog-less co-workers will see the meaningful relationships enjoyed by their colleagues who are dog parents and will adopt pets from local animal shelters, humane societies, and rescue groups.
