Our Mission:
We help our communities' residents be the best "humane" beings they can be by providing: Compassionate temporary shelter care; healthy adoptable animals; information, understanding and education; spay and neuter programs, instead of euthanasia, for population control.

SafeHaven Humane Society is a non-profit, privately funded, limited admission shelter, that does not use euthanasia for population control. We receive no funding from the city, county, state or federal government to operate. Donations from you keep our doors open to the over 1,000 animals we take in and adopt out each year. Thank You!

Kitten Season is upon us.... the warmer weather is bringing cats into heat and several pregnant mothers have already been placed into foster care as well as motherless kittens. In order to deal with the volume of requests we will receive (over 40 calls per day) we need foster families now!

SafeHaven can only take in kittens under 8 weeks old that we have foster care for, otherwise they have to be turned away.  If you have found young kittens without their mother you may need to care for them until foster care can be arranged. For information on how to care for kittens visit our resources page. If you would like more information on fostering please email foster@safehavenhumane.com. Or download the application here.

Here are other ways you can help with the cat overpopulation problem:
1. Spay or neuter your cats- SafeHaven’s “Cats Count” program offers low-income Linn County residents the ability to have their cat spayed or neutered for $10.  For more information visit our cats count page.
2. Donate supplies, money or your time. Visit you can help for more information.
3. Care for homeless or wild cats in your area- Although SafeHaven can not accept ferals we do rent traps to help catch them so they can be spayed or neutered by organizations like FCCO.
4. Open your home to new cat or adopt a playmate for your existing pets.  Available Cats, Available Dogs

Greystoke Medical Fund - This fund helps provide medical services to animals that need above and beyond just routine medical care. Without this fund it would be very difficult to afford the extensive medical care some animals need to be healthy and adoptable. Please consider donating to this fund today. For more information contact us at 928-2789 or just click on the Pay Pal link to make a secure online donation
Bubba- was brought in by gentleman who found him in Albany. Bubba looks like he's a healthy weight however half his body mass is matts. He should weigh closer to 10 lbs for his frame but he actually only weighed 6 lbs when he came in. Under all his matting was a severe flea infestation that was most likely making him anemic. As you can see from Bubba's photo he is also suffering from a very bad case of Upper Respiratory. Bubba has seen the local veterinarian and is already showing improvement. If you would like to donate to cover some of Bubba's care click here for Paypal.
Muffin's owner surrendered her since she was no longer able to afford her care. Muffin is a lhasa cross who despite being fairly young has some major medical problems. She requires daily eye drops and medication, but will most likely need one of her eyes removed. Muffin also has some food allergies which have caused her skin problems in the past. We seem to have that under control however Muffin will require a very special home that can afford her care. She will no doubt pay you back in love and affection though. Until Muffin finds a home we will contiue to care for her and get her the treatment she needs. Donations to the Greystoke Fund is what makes this possible. For more information pleae call 928-2789 or you can donate online using Paypal.
